1.         Does your country have food composition database (FCDB)?

v            If YES,           

Which organisation is responsible for and is owner of the FCDB (name, address, and contact person)?

Is there permanent financial support of the database or only temporary?

Are the capacities of FCDB sufficient?

Have you got software for managing and application of FCDB?

Is your FCDB structured according to some standards or recommendations?

Do  you have electronic version of the FCDB?

How is FCDB usually used in practise in your country and who are the main users ?

v            If NOT,

Why is your country missing FCDB (e.g. nutrient deficiency, labelling)?

Will your organisation be able to carry on these activities, building the database and supporting it after a capacity building and training?

Who would be the main users of the database if you had one?

If your country does not have national food composition tables what database is used as a source for compilation food composition data / tables? What else do you use as a source of your data (e.g. food producers, labelling, etc.)?

2.         Which organisation in your country is responsible for food consumption surveys?

3.         Is there any national food consumption database in your country (e.g. statistics on food consumption, food production, etc.)?

4.         Have you got national food composition tables reflecting national dietary patterns and present foods? If not, what database is used as a source for compilation of food composition data / tables?

5.         For your work on food data bases you will need special equipment and facilities. Could you indicate which research equipement and facilities you are lacking and as a consequence which tasks you will not be able to perform?

6.         What would be your training needs in: methods of analysis for nutrients, sampling of foods, data quality and data evaluation, food nomenclature systems and data base management system?

7.         Do you think you are well trained in defining priorities for including foods and nutrients in the database?

8.         Are you familiar with steps in establishing food composition database? 

9.         Describe which specific (research) tasks or specific training needs would benefit from visits of your staff to experienced EuroFIR partners?(Please complete the EuroFIR online questionnaire about training needs at  EuroFIR site http://www.eurofir.net/form.asp?id=6549 -see the letter!!!)

10.       Can your organisation provide some training for other countries in the area (e.g. analysis)?

11.       What do you expect from this project / cooperation in case it is approved?
