EU FP6 Network of Excellence EuroFIR:
European Food Information Resource Network

EuroFIR forms a collaboration network on the development and application of a unified, reliable and accessible European Food Information Resource. It comprises 110 researchers and 50 postgraduate students from 25 European countries and 44 EuroFIR partners.
The principal objective is to build and disseminate a comprehensive, coherent and validated databank providing a single, authoritative source of food composition data in Europe for nutrients, and newly emerging bioactive compounds with putative health benefits. More information on EuroFIR can be found at
http://www.eurofir.net
The Training Work Package (WP 3.1) within EuroFIR has as its main objectives to promote knowledge, skills development and vision in food composition research within the network, and across Europe through a coherent set of closely inter-related training and education activities. These activities will bring a high level of integration of existing and new training activities to this field.
There is lack of knowledge of possible training needs in non-EuroFIR countries in Europe and specific INCO countries. An initiative of WP 3.1 will be to identify their specific training needs and find opportunities for collaboration with EuroFIR. For this purpose the present  questionnaire has been developed.

EuroFIR on-line questionnaire for special training needs in non-EuroFIR Countries
We therefore send you a link to the EuroFIR Questionnaire. Please focus on your current training and research needs and possible areas for collaboration with EuroFIR. It would be up to you how much information you want to include, but the more we would get the more comprehensive and useful our inventory would be. We would appreciate if you could prioritise answering this questionnaire, which hopefully is not too time consuming.
Please complete this questionnaire and send it within ten days. In case of any queries please do not hesitate to contact:

3. Research Facilities

For your work on food data bases you will need special equipment and facilities. As an example, if you want to produce data on fatty acids, you will need GC or LC equipment; if you want to build a database you will need computers and software. Could you indicate in the box which research equipement and facilities you are lacking and as a consequence which tasks you will not be able to perform. An answer could be as follows: we do not have AAS equipment, so we cannot perform analyses of Fe, Zn, Cu, Se.

Describe special equipement and facility needs here

4. Exchange programmes

Describe which specific (research) tasks or specific training needs would benefit from visits of your staff to experienced EuroFIR partners. Could you also describe subjects for PhD fellowships to be performed in another institute (EuroFIR member or future EuroFIR member)

Describe specific tasks (research or training) needs here
